This Year Be Proactive About Your New Year's Resolution!

Believe it or not, New Year’s is just around the corner. Every year we get several patients who come to us having injured themselves while working out after making a New Year’s resolution to get in better shape. When we talk to these patients during their initial evaluation most report they have had some lingering pain, soreness, or tightness they were experiencing prior to their injury. It is so important to be proactive and take care of these aches and pains before they become something bigger. Now is the perfect time to do this so you will feel great to start the new year!

What Is An Injury?

People often think they have to have a major injury to go for physical therapy treatment. They don’t think that a stiff neck, tight hamstrings, or a sore shoulder qualifies as “an injury.” This couldn’t be further from the truth. These are all perfectly legitimate reasons to come in to Complete Game for physical therapy. Also getting treatment sooner rather than later has shown to reduce recovery time and medical costs. It makes sense to take care of the little things before they become big things.

What Should I Expect Going Into PT?

If you have seen us before you probably have heard me say “PT isn’t as bad as everyone says it is!” Haha. When you come see us we will sit down and talk with you to hear your history and help figure out a plan that will work for you. It may be as simple as giving you some stretches and exercises to work on at home or you may benefit more from coming in to see us a couple of times a week to get some treatment on what hurts and a progressive exercise program. Whichever it is we will be sure you are working toward and ultimately reaching your goals.

We are often asked “Do I need to see my doctor before coming in for physical therapy?” The answer in Massachusetts is no. Massachusetts is what is known as a direct access state meaning you do not need a doctor’s prescription to see us. Our administrative staff will contact your insurance company and make sure your insurance benefits are in place before you come in to see us.

Don’t hesitate to make an appointment at either our Lowell clinic or our Tewksbury clinic before those small aches and pains become big injuries. Be proactive this year so you are feeling great and ready to take that New Year’s resolution head on. Click here to schedule an appointment and start feeling better today!
