Tips To Get Ready for Fall Sports

BTS….for all students it means Back To School, but for some it means Back To Sports!

Whether you are preparing for Fall Volleyball, Football, Soccer, Tennis, Field Hockey, Lacrosse, Track , or Cross-Country, our advice for getting back into sports is the same: Thoughtful preparation is key and, as you will read, we can help get you back to sports safely as the school year begins.

Get Ready For Your Season

Hopefully your summer break included keeping up with physical conditioning. If you’ve fallen out of your consistent exercise routine, start back slowly to avoid strains and injuries. Building a workout routine that includes cardiovascular workouts, strength training, and agility drills will help improve endurance, power, and flexibility.

Before starting back to sports, we recommend an Injury Risk Assessment here in the Complete Game clinic. These assessments will help to prevent injuries by understanding how you move your body and other body mechanic measurements. Areas of concern can be worked on with exercises or other therapy. We work with individuals and whole teams to identify and help with any deficits.

Proper nutrition is also crucial for athletic performance. Athletes should consume a well-balanced diet that includes plenty of lean protein, fruits and vegetables, and complex carbohydrates. Staying hydrated is also key, so it is important to drink plenty of water throughout the day, especially during and after workouts. Proper hydration and good nutrition help prevent injury, also!

Finally, it is important for student athletes to communicate closely with their coaches and trainers to ensure they are properly prepared for the upcoming season. This includes discussing any injuries or health concerns, and working together to develop a training plan that is specific to the athlete's needs and goals. With the right preparation, student athletes can maximize their potential and succeed in fall sports.
